Blykalla is a Swedish developer of small modular nuclear reactors (SMR). The company has a uniquely safe and compact reactor design based on +25 years of research from our world leading founders at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and IP on innovative materials that make commercialization possible.
The company is currently focused on building an electric prototype of the reactor to demonstrate the technology together with their shareholder and partner Uniper who is one of Europe's largest utilities on their nuclear power plant site in Oskarshamn, Sweden. They will also enter regulatory pre-licensing in Sweden where the government is working to pave the way for new nuclear with new regulation and a comprehensive financing framework.
The company raised a Series A1 of €14m from investors including 92 Ventures, Armada, Norrsken, Earth Ventures, as well as several Swedish and international entrepreneurs and family offices. They are just now kicking off the work to raise an A2 round.
